"Gabby Christopher is a Columbia, Maryland native who is a senior at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is currently pursuing two bachelors with one in Sociology and another in Government & Politics. She is also minoring in Demography and Law. Gabby has special interests in studying social inequality, specifically looking at race relations in the United States. She is extremely passionate about civil rights and is aims to be a helpful voice during this social revolution. Since she was unable to attend protests due to social distancing concerns, she wanted to figure out a different way to help. Gabby created her own online course to teach people about the untold history of the Black experience in America, hoping to show people that racism is much deeper than actions and words; it is systemic. She wants to make this information she’s learned through coursework, research and internship opportunities, available for anyone who would not normally have access to the courses she feels grateful to have taken in college. Her aim is that people will now understand that the #BlackLivesMatter movement is much deeper than police brutality, but it is a call to restructure the system that has held Black people back for centuries. After she finishes her undergraduate degrees, she wants to get a PhD in Sociology so she can continue to teach people about social stratification as a college professor. She even has interest in making positive social change as becoming a Congresswoman some day."
